Browsing for a special occasion wine in my local Costco, a kind woman approached me and offered to share information about Cameron Hughes Wines.
Cameron Hughes Wine specializes in delivering ultra-premium, small lot wines at exceptional value prices for both domestic and international wines. Owners Cameron Hughes and Jessica Kogan seek out wine regions like France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Argentina, South Africa and California.
Up until then, I wasn’t familiar with the Cameron Hughes Lot Series, but decided to try their Lot 170 2008 Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel. As I walked towards the front of Costco to checkout, I noticed at least half-a-dozen other shoppers with a bottle or two of Cameron Hughes. Now when shopping at Costco, I make it a point to look for Cameron Hughes and slump into disappointment when they’re not carrying it or the table set-up is not there to share with me their latest Lot news.
A glass of this Zin demonstrated a rich burgundy/red color with a purplish rim. Hints of strawberry (I also thought there were hints of blackberries) and peppercorns were evident. This 2008 Old Vine Zinfandel had a smooth, velvety finish and not overly tannic. After thoroughly enjoying this impressive bottle with Hubby, I was anxious to get back to Costco to add a couple more bottles to our stash. However, I haven’t been able to locate more of this Lot 170. I understand that some Vons may be carrying Cameron Hughes Lots. If you happen upon Lot 170 and you like Zins – you won’t be disappointed! Check out their Web site and Lot locators for your favorites.

I actually bought a bottle of lot 170 and it was fantastic. I went back to costco to stock up and they were all gone. Next time I will know better. I would have loved a bottle of Zin with your Greek Lasanga!

WOW – that wine sounds so great! Nothing better than old vine Zin. My husband and I got married at a winery and they have 96 year old vines for their Zin. I am going to head to Costco. Enjoy your weekend.

Oh Lisa! That sounds so romantic to get married at a beautiful winery. I’m gonna start dropping hints to Hubby for renewal vows ideas. 😉
