I about fell out of my chair when I received an audition invitation from the casting agent for FOX’s MasterChef – Season 4!
A casting call for the next season of MasterChef will be held in San Diego on October 6, 2012!
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never watched MasterChef on FOX. In fact, I didn’t know anything about the show and its concept until one evening I happened upon the Season 3 Finale. I remember thinking, “How could I NOT have heard about this show?” I’m pretty sure my ignorance stems from the fact that (besides Jeopardy!), I rarely watch game shows or reality TV.
Imagine my surprise to have received an audition invitation from the casting agent. Admittedly, I confessed to him that before the Season 3 finale, I had not even heard of the show. So what is MasterChef all about?
About MasterChef
The show is on a nationwide search for talented amateur cooks from all types of backgrounds and with a range of cooking styles to audition for their show.
- You must be 18 years or older on or before January 1, 2013 and not a minor in your state of residence.
- You must also be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
- Your current main source of income cannot come from preparing and cooking fresh food in a professional environment (restaurants, hotels, food trucks, catering etc).
Contestant finalists prepare signature dishes and present them to the distinguished MASTERCHEF judging panel: Famed award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur Joe Bastianich and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot. The judges taste for flavor, originality, creativity and presentation. The amateur cooks must demonstrate a genuine passion for food and a drive to win in order to earn a coveted white apron and move on to each next round. Only those who put their best dish forward move closer to becoming a culinary master!

Oooo are you going to do it? It could be so fun. I’m more comfortable behind the camera but it could be really cool. Keep us posted!

Melissa: I’m with you about being more comfortable behind the camera. In fact, I did ask/inquire if I could be behind the scenes and photograph the auditions. The casting agent was kind enough to get back to me on my request…it was a negatory. Boo. Would’ve been so cool to photograph the event. 😀

Hi CJ:
How have you been? 🙂 I’m thinking about auditioning…just not sure what I’d bring since some of the dishes I was considering needs to be eaten warm. How about you – are you considering it? It could be a lot of fun!! 😀
