I don't remember when I started to receive it but out of the blue years ago I started receiving the food & family magazine sent out by kraft foods. I didn't sign up for it and I never paid for a subscription. I've considered that my name must have come up from one of the other food magazines I subscribe to. Even up until this current issue my eyes light up with anticipation of looking forward to going through the magazine. There are definitely good, tasty ideas and I love the food photography.
The magazine is, of course, geared around the Kraft family of products. Recipes for quick solutions for busy schedules – not always the epitome of healthy but easy, quick and often times more affordable than starting from scratch.
The magazine used to offer a beautiful food calendar that they would send out at the end of the year for the following year. Each month featured a beautiful dish created with Kraft products and the recipe. Sadly, they did away with that beautiful (free) gift several years ago. This month's Holiday '09 issue is geared around 30 recipes for stress-free entertaining. Along with the issue I received an alert that my attention was required – it was my final issue – renew my subscription immediately! What? I never subscribed to begin with.
It's a reasonable price for the magazine. I think I was even offered a better rate than what is listed on their Web site. There are many other fine food magazines on the stands that I would pay money for, but this is not one of them. Again, it's not a bad magazine, but it is only centered around ideas, recipes and ingredients using Kraft brands (and so it should, since it was free and it is put out by Kraft).
I will miss receiving Kraft's food & family magazine, but am grateful that I was able to enjoy it all these years. I'm curious about how this magazine's other current long-time recipients will react.

Hi Kelly – $6.95 is a more than fair price.
Just received a renewal notice for “Food Everyday” (a Martha Stewart publication). That magazine’s emphasis is “great food fast” Similar concept as the Kraft’s “Food & Family”. However, the recipes are more a bit more from scratch, but not centered around one product family of brands and for 10 issues a year, it’s $4.90. =)

Oh I agree!! I used to love getting it, and loved that it was free 🙂 The 6.95 or whatever a year is cheap, but I am not going to subscribe. Oh well, I guess!
